It appears from the birth of Isaac in May 1852 and from history of family
told by descendants that John brought his family to California in 1852
with the rest of the Fowler family following in 1854. Mary Malinda and
Ruel Lothrop may have accompanied him since the descendants of that
family claim she came in 1852 and the History of Nevada printed in 1905
has Ruel's death date as 1852.

1850 census: 42 year old farmer living with wife & 6 children in Atcheson Co., Mo. Living by Ben & James Fowler. Benjamin could be his oldest son living next door.
1860 census: 52 year old farmer living with wife & 5 children in Green Valley, Solano Co., Ca. Real Estate valued at 6000, personal estate 600.
